The corporate strategy of Adidas was to innovate. The company from its inception focused on creativity and developing better products. The corporate strategy was to make better athletic footwear and apparel.
During the lineup of sporting goods business prior to its 2005-2006 restructuring was that there was no common strategic approach. In fact there was diversification. Before the restructuring the acquisition of Salomon Group in 1997 meant that it entered ski wear business. Adidas even changed it name to Adidas-Salomon AG. It also acquired Taylormade Golf company and Maxfli. There was no common strategy approach.
With the restructuring the corporate strategy has changed. With the restructuring, Adidas has now focused again on footwear and athletic apparel. The change is that Adidas has again decided to focus on those businesses in which it has expertise (3).
