#103292

Generation time; doubling time

If the generation time is 90 minutes and the initial population contains 10^3 cells, how many bacteria will there be after 3 hours of exponential growth?

Solution Summary

During exponential growth, each microorganism is dividing at constant intervals. Thus the population doubles during specific length of time called generation time or doubling time.

The equation for exponential growth is: Nt = No X 2^n
