Presence of different species of Listeria in ready-to-eat food stuffs.

The genus Listeria includes other species such as Listeria ivanovii, Listeria seeligeri, Listeria innocua and Listeria welshimeri, apart from Listeria monocytogenes. In product testing for Listeria in the Ready-to-eat food industry, the species of Listeria that are safe for human consumption are Listeria seeligeri, Listeria innocua and Listeria welshimeri as they are nonpathogenic and nonhemolytic.
