Mitosis and Meiosis AND Gene to Protein

1.  Compare/contrast the processes and products of mitosis and meiosis.

AND

2.  Discuss/diagram the process from gene to protein. In other words, how do we build a protein based on a sequence of DNA?

Solution Summary

Mitosis & meiosis are two major cellular division occuring in somatic and germ cell respectively. Both division can differentiated on the basis of difference in the orientation of chromosome in metaphase and anphase. At the same time products formed at the end of division is also different in terms of chromosome number.

Protein synthesis begins from transcriptional process in which m-RNA is formed by DNA. Later in translational process m-RNA helps in the formation of proteins. Translation is a sequential process occuring in cytoplasm and ribosome & t-RNA participate in it.
