2. Distinguish between sexual and asexual fungal spores. Give examples of each type of spore.
3. Describe the reproductive mechanisms of yeasts
4.What ace the imperfect fungi?
5. How do fungi digest their food? How does this differ from the way animals digest their food?
6. What are the specialized hyphae of parasitic fungi that penetrate the cells of hosts called?

Solution Summary

The plant body of multicellular fungi is a thaloid structure having cell wall made up of chitin. Thalus bears filmentous structure called hyphae which together form mycelium. At maturity mycelium forms reproductive structures. Fungi reproduces by any of three methods - vegetative, asexual & sexual. Vegetative reproduction occurs mostly by the fragmentation of the plant body. However, it reproduces asexually by the formation of spores.
