An ethical code of conduct is also known as a code of professional responsibility.  A code of ethics is a formal statement of what the organizational values are on certain issues.  Sometimes the organization will employ a set of ethical codes based on certain situations such as conflicts of interest or acceptance of gifts.

Forward. The ethical conduct of America’s corporations has come in for
a great deal of attention over the past few years. The Enron scandal,
the incidents of insider trading, the inflation of earning statements,
the HealthSouth scandal.... all have combined to place corporate ethics
in the nation’s spotlight. As a result the Sarbanes-Oxley Act which
went into effect in 2002 has provided some legislative and enforcement
“muscle” to the nation’s regulators.

 

Your assignment. (300-500 word) You have been retained by a publicly
traded corporation to develop an Ethical Code of Conduct for Managers.

Make sure to have an introduction and conclusion

The deliverable is a written ethical Code of Conduct describing what are
permissible acts and what are prohibited acts by those managers who are
in a decision making role.

 

Some of the things you will also have to consider and incorporate in
your deliverable are the following items:

 

1. How will you incorporate the Code of Conduct into the corporate
policies?

 

2. What processes will you recommend to ensure appropriate remedial
measures are taken when weaknesses are identified?
