Solution Summary

Reagents that undergo a loss or a gain of electrons are called reducing agents or oxidising agents, respectively.
Salt bridge is a U-type tube containing a concentrated salt solution (potassium chloride or sulfate) in a gel. The two solutions *(cathodic and anodic) are in contact by means of a salt bridge which allows the equilibration of the anions (ion flow).
