Problem
#73026

Household chemical reactions.

I have to develop a series of reactions with common household products. Then I am required to predict the chemical formulas and states of the products of each reaction, and then use those products in another reaction. For example:

You can decompose chalk (calcium carbonate) by heating it:
CaCo3(s) => CO2(g) + CaO (s)

Calcium oxide, a metal oxide, can combine with water to make a base:
CaO(s) + H2O(l) => Ca(OH)2 (s)

The calcium hydroxide is slightly soluble in water. If i dissolve a little bit of it, I will make a basic solution. I can neutralize this basic solution with vinegar, or acetic acid:

Ca(OH)2 (aq) + 2CH3COOH(aq) => Ca(CH3COO)2 (aq) + 2H2O (l)

I need to have at least 5 reactions. I'm not asking for answers, just looking for some examples as to where/how to start this problem.

Thanks
