"When 2-butene reacts with hydrogen chloride gas, only one product is detected. When 1-butene reacts similarly, two products are usually found. Explain this."
I know that 2-butene + HCl produces 2-chlorobutane.
I looked up Markovnikoff's rule to try to help me, and I think that one of the products of 1-butene + HCl is also 2-chlorobutane, but I can't seem to figure out what the other product might be. HELLLLPPP!!!
