Ethanoic acid.doc
Ethanoic acid (CH3COOH), isoamyl alcohol, sulfuric acid, isoamyl acetate
and water will be in the mixture after the reaction but before adding
NaHCO3. Also include the ionized molecules in the list, for example,
HSO4-, SO42-, H3O+, protonated isoamyl alcohol(add a proton to the
hydroxyl), CH3COO-, etc.?
Acidic molecules (acidity from strong to weak):
H2SO4, protonated isoamyl alcohol (add a proton to the hydroxyl), H3O+,
HSO4-, Ethanoic acid, water, isoamyl alcohol.
From the table, ethanoic acid and stronger acids will react with NaHCO3.
So,
Balancing acetic acid to calcium ethanoate equation?? - I was able to balance a formic acid to calcium methanoate equation as follows:
3CH2O2 + 2CaCO3 = 2(CHO2)Ca + 3CO2 + 2H2O
However, I have tried and tried and cannot seem to balance an acetic acid ...
