A man enters a bank and has a check cashed.  The teller mistakes the figures and pays cents for dollars and dollars for cents.  The man then pays a bill for $24.11 after which he finds he has twice as much money as the face value of the original check.  What was the face value?  (In case it makes a difference, this is in US dollars).
