Cartesian Form

For this I am pretty sure that it won't be hard to grasp the concept, however, I am not clear or grasping Cartesian form too much and the way this problem is worded it is confusing me. I really unsure how to apply the cartesian formula to this.

A Collision problem.

A 0.15 kg ball hits a wall with a velocity of (6.00 m/s) i + (6.50 m/s) j + (5.50 m/s) k. It rebounds from the wall with a velocity of (2.00 m/s) i + (3.50 m/s) j + (-3.20 m/s) k a) What is the change in the ball's momentum? (__i +__j +__k ) kg · m/s b) What is the impulse on the ball? (__i +__j +__k ) N · s (c) Wh ...continues

A collision problem.

Ball 1 with an initial speed of 12 m/s collides elastically with stationary balls 2 and 3 that are initially in contact with each other. The centers of balls 2 and 3 are on a line perpendicular to the initial velocity of ball 1. The three balls are identical. Ball 1 is aimed directly at the contact point, and all motion is frict ...continues

Momentum

A woman of mass 60 kg stands on a raft of mass 180 kg. The woman walks on the raft toward a dock on the shore. She begins walking when she is 10 m from the dock, and stops when she is 8.5 meters from the dock. How far does the raft move as a result of her walk? Assume that the raft lies in still water and ignore any forces b ...continues

Acceleration

A mass m = 3 kg on a frictionless table is attached to a hanging mass M = 5 kg by a cord through a hole in a table (see figure below). Find the speed with which m must move in a circle of radius r = 0.5 m in order for M to stay at rest. Please provide step by step solution

Work

In the figure below, a cord runs around two mass-less, frictionless pulleys. A canister with mass m = 12 kg hangs from one pulley, and you exert a force F on the free end of the cord. If you pull 10 cm on the free end of the cord, how much work have you done on the canister? Assume that the canister is at rest after you have pu ...continues

Power

A ski lift raises 100 passengers averaging 80 kg in mass to a height of 150 m in 60 seconds. What average power does it output during the 60 seconds?

Spring

A 500 g block is dropped onto a relaxed vertical spring with a spring constant k = 3 N/cm. The block becomes attached to the spring and continues downward under the influence of gravity, compressing the spring 15 cm before momentarily stopping. What is the speed of the block just before it hits the spring?

Momentum

A rocket moves in outer space with no external forces acting on it. It starts from rest and then continuously exhausts gas at a speed of 6.0 km/s, relative to the engines. Find the final velocity of the rocket if the gas accounts for 25% of its initial mass. Complete step by step solution needed.

Collision

A 0.15 kg cue ball with an initial speed of 2.50 m/s bounces of the rail in a game of pool, as shown in the figure below. For x and y axes located as shown, the bounce reverses the y component of the ball's velocity but does not alter the x component. What is the magnitude of the change in the ball's linear momentum?
