estimate my buoyant force

Estimate the buoyant force that acts on you. (to do this, you can estimate your volume by knowing your weight and by assuming that your weight density is a bit less than that of water) My weight is 135 lbs and I am about 5 foot six. If you need more demensions you can just make them up. THanks

physics mechanics question

A mass of 336 kg falls through a distance of 17.5mm on to the stop at the lower end of a vertical steel bar which is 5.2 metres long and 735 square mm in cross section area.If the modulus of Elasticity is equal to 210 GPascals for the bar.Find a)instantaneous elongation + b)The stress in the bar?? need detailed step by step solu ...continues

Venturi question

A venturi has an inlet of 120mm and a throat diameter of 60mm.If 1750 litres of water pass through the inlet every minute, calculate the difference of head,in metres, between the inlet and the throat?need detailed solution,no shortcuts.thanks RDR..

Newton's 2nd law

1. If a cord is pulled upward, making an angle of 27º with respect to the horizon line, produces a force of 365N and can pull a box over the floor with a weight of 55.2 kg at a constant speed of 20.5 centimeters/sec - which is the magnitude of the friction force that opposes the movement of the box? 2. A boat pulls a water-ski ...continues

Newton's 2nd Law

1. A ball that weights 5N falls on earth ...which the net force that acts on the ball during the fall? Which is the force (including its direction) that the ball exercises on the land when it falls? 2. In the moon, the gravitational acceleration of the objects is around 1.67 meter/s2 How much does it weight in the moon an obje ...continues

pressure/Bernoulli's equation

Hi. Can someone please walk me through how to do the following problem? On a vacation flight, you look out the window of the jet and wonder about the forces exerted on the window. Suppose the air outside of the window moves with a speed of approximately 150 m/s shortly after take-off, and that the air inside the plane is at a ...continues

Archimedes' Principle

Hi. Can someone please walk me through how to do the following problem? A person with a mass of 81 kg and a volume of 0.089 m^3 floats quietly in water. (a) What is the volume of the person that is above water? (b) If an upward force F is applied to the person, the volume above water increases by 0.0018 m^3. Find the force F. ...continues

air pressure, gauge pressure

Hi. Can someone please walk me through how to do the following problem? Suppose that when you ride on your 7.70-kg bike the weight of you and the bike is supported equally by the two tires. If the gauge pressure in the tires is 70.5 lb/in^2 and the area of contact between each tire and the road is 7.13 cm^2, what is your weig ...continues

Fluids, pressure and depth

Hi. Can someone please walk me through how to do the following problem? A patient is to receive an intravenous injection of medication. In order to work properly, the pressure of fluid containing the medication must be 109 kPa at the injection point. (a) If the fluid has a density of 1020 kg/m^3, find the height at which the ...continues
