Lienard-Weichert potentials for an antenna
Is it possible to work out the Magnetic and electric fields of a loop antenna using the Lienard-Weichert potentials ? I would like a detailed derivation of how this is done
A circular current loop made of flexible wire is located in a magnetic field B; you may keep B constant or vary it. Describe three ways an emf can be induced in the loop.
A conducting loop of area A and total resistance R is suspended by a torsion spring of constant k in a uniform magnetic field B=B e_y. The loop is in the yz plane at equilibrium and can rotate about the z -axis with the moment of inertia I as shown in figure. The loop is displaced by a small angle Theta from equilibrium and re ...continues
A particle with mass m and electric charge q is bound by the Coulomb interaction to an infinitely massive particle with electric charge -q. At t=0 its orbit is (approximately) a circle of radius R. At what time will it have spiralled into R/2? (Assume that R is large enough so that you can use the classical radiation theory than ...continues
On the invariance of Lorentz transformations.
Show that E^2-B^2 and vec{E}.vec{B} are invariant under a Lorentz transformation.
Method to determine the surface temp of sun
Briefly describe the method to determine the surface temp of sun
The conductor bridge is giving an initial velocity V0 to the right. The circuit completed by this bridge has an increasing area as the bridge moves to the right which means an increasing magnetic flux. Thus we know from Faraday's law that a current is created in the circuit completed by this bridge proportional to its velocity. ...continues
To an observer very close to a spherical surface charge distribution, the sphere's surface looks flat and stretches essentially to the horizon in all directions. It will therefore look to the observer as if it were an infinite flat charged sheet. Argue that if the observers distance d from the spherical surface is very small c ...continues
Consider two circular parallel plates of radius R separated by a distance d R. Assume that these plates have uniformly distributed surface charges of Q and -Q. Electric field vectors in the region between the plates will all point perpendicular to the plates from the positive plate to the negative plate and wi ...continues
Imagine that you have two identical neutral metal spheres on insulating stands and a charged rubber rod. Using diagrams, carefully describe a step-by-step process that uses the rod to give the two spheres exactly opposite charges(all without touching either sphere with the rod)Take care to construct your procedure so that it en ...continues
