Four people are striving toward the same end, but are motivated by different means. Carmen, Kris, and Deana (and Sam below) all want to obtain a promotion at their place of employment. Assume the following:
1. Carmen's motivation can be accounted for a biological theory of motivation.
2. Kris' motivation can be accounted for a psychosocial theory of motivation.
3. Deana's motivation can be accounted for a interactionist theory of motivation.
Speculate on each person's source of motivation based on the assumptions above.
Explain the main ways in which their sources of motivation and the types of effort they would put forth differ from the other two. In closing, hypothesize another individual, Sam, and build him as having a realistic combination of motivating theories which give rise to various factors inspiring him to per sue a promotion. Explain how the factors of each motivation theory might interact with each other.
Based on three work-related scenarios, three motivational theories (e.g. biological, psychosocial and interactionist) are applied to three individual cases to explain each persons motivation to obtain a promotion at their place of employment. Specifically, each theory is explained in terms of the individual's source of motivation and how the types of effort they would put forth differ from the other two perspectives. In closing, it explains another scenario (Sam) applying a realistic combination of motivating theories which might give rise to various factors inspiring him to peruse a promotion, and also how the factors of each motivation theory might interact with each other. Supplemented with a detailed description and examples of Erikson's theory of motivation.
