HINDUSTAN LEVER LIMITED
Sept 2000 – Aug 2001
Consultant
Responsibility - Directly involved with the multistage production scheduling of the jobs.
- Formulated the Inventory policy for different product under variability and uncertainty.
- Identified the sources of variability and help reduce it by identifying the potential customers for the establishment of EDI policies.
Key Learning: It gave me a practical exposure to the effects of logistics policies, organizational design, performance measurement systems and information flows on planning, scheduling, dispatching of resources and effects of variability on production and inventory, on customer service and on operating costs.
- Helped understand the theoretical concepts in a more pragmatic way and the underlying practical constraints.

People’s Education Society Institute of Technology
May 2000 – Sept 2000
Project Trainee
Software’s used: Auto CAD 2000,3D STUDIO MAX & Visual Basic
Responsibilities: Implemented the project titled “Solid Modeling & Animation” to simplify the understanding of assembly and working of machine components.
- The project involved solid Modeling and Animation of the assembly. It will be a useful substitute for machine drawing in the educational institutes.
Key Learning: The project provided a creative exposure that facilitated integrative thought processes required to address the problem.
Skills & Achievements: a) Simulated a Model for an Industrial Setting required to evaluate the behavior of the system in terms of queue lengths and utilization at each workstation for a job shop setting. The data was then analyzed to evaluate the practical capacity of the plant subjected to stochastic randomness as against the deterministic theoretical capacity.

b) Redesigned and implemented an operational strategy and inventory policies under enhanced information system environment for a hypothetical but realistic company having multiple products. Justified the redesigned system by significantly reducing the operational costs and holding cost.

c) Designed a cellular layout for LED manufacturing company, identifying the products that can be grouped as a family. The project involved allocating resources, creating and allocating capacity to different products, assignment of workers and the level of cross training, allocating decoupling stock between workstations and designing the material handling system. The concept of QRM was implemented by keeping the production batch sizes small and keeping a safety capacity.

Message to Students
and/or Parents:
I think that learning is always a two ways process. I am thirsty for know ledge and want to know more and more. This can be well done if we can share our knowledge. So I love teaching and learn some things from students as well.
