Writing requirements average 9-10 stories per week, usually about 500 words in length. 1989-1999 Free lance writer, Washington, DC Wrote news and feature articles for various newspapers and newsletters, usually under the name of the regular reporter. Ghosted book on recent political developments on the African continent. 1981-1989 Seminar director, Washington International Studies Center, Washington, DC Directed the research and writing efforts of university students participating in WISC’s semester in Washington program. For a number of years I directed a seminar for high school/university students participating in a 'Washington semester' program. One of the long-term benefits that I gained from this experience was an appreciation of the difficulty that students may have in pinpointing academic problem areas. Thus, I make it a practice to ask probative questions. (It does little good to provide an accurate answer to a wrong or misunderstood question.) |
