OTA ID#: 105659

Education Experience: BA, Business Administration (Accounting), Olivet College, 1990
MS (IP), Taxation, University of Texas - Arlington, 2007
MA (IP), Humanities, California State University - Dominguez Hills, 2008
Focus of Study: Taxation in the business world, will continue studies at University of Tulsa.

Humanities for Masters program, still deciding between History and Literature for PhD.
Work Experience: I have been practicing in the tax/accounting industry in public practice for 10+ years. I am finishing up my CPA designation in the next couple of months.
Skills & Achievements: I have gotten specialized in my tax work with estates, trusts, and investment partnerships.

I have always had an interest in the humanities. Undergraduate I have a minor in English. I have been learning French and Spanish on my own. I read about one literary novel a week, and about one nonfiction work a month. I have traveled quite extensively, especially in Central/South America.
Career Interests: I am professionally working as a CPA in the tax field. I will be continuing this work.

I am also pursuing a Masters in the Humanities and would like to start teaching at a community college when I am finished. I will be interested in a PhD, but do not know which discipline yet, English or History.
Outside Interests: Traveling is my favorite interest at this point. I find that the interest to learn the history and language of a region is greatly increased with a personal visit.

I am also very much into outdoor activites, I hike at least once a week and do some backpacking as often as possible.
Additional Information: I equally enjoy both my professional interests. I love the world of business and looking at things both big picture and the minute details. I also love to escape into literature and really know what is going on in my world through the study of history.
Message to Students
and/or Parents:
I enjoy learning more than anything and want to instill in students the same love that I have. Learning will continue for a lifetime and the sooner a student realizes that, the better off the student will be. Answers are not right and wrong, but springboards for a whole new world.
