LITERATURE REVIEW ANALYSIS TEMPLATE

INTRODUCTION
This was a great assignment, because I was able to truly understand the benefits of well written literature reviews, from the articles that I chose, there was one strong literature review, one literature review that needed improvement, and one literature review that was below par. Unfortunately, the article that I was moist excited to read had the poorest literature review. According to Montana State University (2013), "The literature review is important because: It describes how the proposed research is related to prior research in statistics. It shows the originality and relevance of your research problem. Specifically, your research is different from other statisticians. It justifies your proposed methodology. It demonstrates your preparedness to complete the research." According to Kim Lie (2013), a poor literature review is, "An annotated bibliography, confined to description, narrow and shallow, confusing and long-winded, and constructed in an arbitrary way." When further examining characteristics of a sound literature review, I used Lie's (2013) characteristics, "Is a synthesis of available research, is a critical evaluation, has appropriate breadth and depth, has clarity and conciseness, and uses rigorous and consistent methods." The information provided by Montana State University and Lie, along with other researchers, has guided me in my analysis of various articles.

QUANTITATIVE STUDY
How well does the literature review form the basis for the problem or the research questions?
The researchers of this study clearly possess a sound working knowledge of literature related to women in organizational leadership positions. The researchers of this study synthesize the available research in depth. The researchers of the study identified that within the United States, women are not represented equally (as to men) in nonprofit and for-profit organizations. With this being said, the researchers decided to examine how Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions, characterization of country cultures (e.g. feminine versus masculine), attributed to leadership representation in the European Union. As stated within the literature review, very little information has been provided/research regarding the representation of women in relationship to cultural dimensions.
The researchers of this study not only had a sound understanding of statistical information regarding gender representation, but they provided an understanding of Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions. The level of detail within this literature review was incredible!

How clearly is the literature review written? Whether you find it clearly written or not, provide justification for your conclusion.
This literature review was written extremely well. What strengthened this study was the ability of the researchers to provided a fabulous introduction, as well as a well-written abstract. Through introducing the topic so well, the review of literature was interesting and easy to understand. What I liked about this literature review ...
