Centrifugal Clutch Question
Not what you're looking for?
In a centrifugal clutch there are eight shoes, each of mass 0.3 kg and the centre of gravity of each shoe is at 50 mm radius when it is just touching the drum of diameter 200 mm. The shoes are held off the drum by 3 mm by a spring of stiffness 140 kN/m. The springs in the "held off" position retain a force of 20 N. If the normal running speed of 2000 r.p.m., determine the power transmitted by the clutch at this speed.
(Take coefficient of friction between shoe and drum to be 0.4).
