Thucydides lived between 460-400 BC in ancient Greece. He was a military general and a historian. He chronicled the first 20 years of the Peloponnesian war (Thucydides & Crawley, 2006) - the war fought between the Delian League (an alliance of city-states led by Athens) and the Peloponnesian League (an alliance of city-states led by Sparta).
