D.C. Circuits: Resistances in Series, Parallel and Current
Not what you're looking for?
I need some help with these two problems:
9. Consider the shown below. If we make the nichronic wire longer, what happens to the:
- (A) Equivalent resistance of the bulb (bulb B + wire) combination?
- (B) Current through Bulb A?
- (C) Voltage across Bulb B?
- (D) Voltage across Bulb A?
- (E) Current through Bulb B?
In each case explain your reasoning. See attachment for circuit diagram.
10. All bulbs are identical in the circuit shown. The voltage across Bulb D is 1.0 volt. The battery voltage is 6.0 V. Find the voltage drops across Bulbs A, B, and C. (See attachment for circuit diagram).

Please see the attached file.
If a longer nichrome wire is taken then its resistance will be greater then in this case.
(A) Equivalent resistance of the combination of B and wire will increase.
As the equivalent resistance R of a parallel combination is given by increase in R1 or R2 will decreases 1/R1 or 1/R2 and will decrease the value of 1/R and will increase equivalent resistance R.
(B) Current through the bulb A will decrease, because an increase in the resistance of the combination ...
