Is the affect of the media on biases diluted considerably due to a phenomenon known as confirmation bias (see: http://youarenotsosmart.com/2010/06/23/confirmation-bias/)? In other words, are society's biases and stereotypes pretty well set by other forces and the media, then, simply plays to those pre-set perceptions, or does the media also have the ability to change perceptions?
