I personally feel that art is strongly influenced by social, political, and economic forces. You may want to examine Baroque and Rococo perspectives based upon these influences.
First of all, please note that Baroque paintings were greatly influenced by social forces. Please note that this era held a need for great exploration and curiosity of nature. For example, the works of Francis Bacon, Descartes, Galileo, Kepler, and other prominent figures helped Baroque mirror social beliefs about the universe.
You might even note that Baroque art changed its perspective of space. You might use Andrea Pozzo's architectural columns and arches as evidence when looking at the ceiling of Sant'Ignazio. Peter Paul Rubens' Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus also shows the changing space perspective; the piece shows how the figures impose or invade the viewer's space.
Besides space, the Roman church also caused social, political, and economic effects upon art and architecture during the Baroque era. The church had an immense power as in the case of Bernini's two colonnades in St. Peter's Square or the Palace of Versailles. This piece is a prime example to reveal the ...
