There are five components of Information System, namely:
1. Peopleware
2. Data
3. Procedures
4. Hardware, and
5. Software
Peopleware
In all IS components, people should be on the top of the hierarchy. Any IS will not work if the people who provide the resources are absent. Caroll (2012) identified people "as the most important and most expensive component" of an information system.
The other four (4) components - data, procedures, hardware and software, would be useless without the human resources that would enhance their capabilities.
