This was a highly explosive statement made by the President. I also work for a family owned firm, and it will be in our family (hopefully) for generations to come. When you do own a business or your family does, and you see what it takes to run that business successfully year and year, it is very difficult to not take statements such as this one, personally. In order for your answer to sound non-biased, I would take an analysis type of approach. What did the President mean by the statement?
The Republican Party immediately jumped on top of the statement, as was widely displayed in the news casts. When we take the statement at face value, we can raise a fairly strong argument that it is not an accurate statement. - If you've got a business, you didn't build it. - When we look at small business owners, (or even larger businesses), we see that it started somewhere; perhaps with our parents, grandparents, or ourselves. Those people put in the hours, money, and resources to open the front doors of that business. We can also look at it from a logic standpoint and say that the owner did build the business because if the owner didn't build the business from the ground up, it ...
