As you the President's State of the Union Address, please allow some of my ideas to lead you:
President Bush utilizes various techniques and devices to deliver his speech. First, he uses the current tragic conditions in America and worldwide, the definite aura of concern and fear, to articulate his purpose. He recalls and cites specific examples to hook listeners as he says, "our nation is at war, our economy is in recession, and the civilized world faces unprecedented dangers..." His use of the pronoun "our" is quite effective to show that Americans are united together under the circumstances. This usage keeps the audience's interest and reinforces the relevance of the speech topic.
He also uses the unification theme as he suggests, "We must act, first and foremost, not as Republicans, not as Democrats, but as Americans."
