Elite theory gives us the explanation of power in economic and political groups, corporations and government in most cases, as being held by a small group, the elite. The elite in most cases and in most Western companies are white and male. This elite control the power within companies and use that power to keep minority groups from gaining power. The civil rights movements are those where the minorities or oppressed move to make things better and improve power.
