The final project for HUM 130 is a World Religions Report. For your project, you will choose a religion that is not your own and then visit a place of worship and interview a person of that faith. You will report your findings in an informative paper. Compare and contrast this religion with another one you are familiar with through this class.

Your World Religions Report should be 2000-2,500 words in length, formatted according to APA guidelines, and contain the following elements:
1. Introduction of the religion
2. Name, location review of the site
3. Interview summary
4. Comparing and contrasting with another religion

Hi,

One approach to help you with an assignment like this one is to look at each section, which will help you with your final report. However, you will need to interview a person of a faith different than your own and then compare it to another religion. I will suggest some questions to guide your interview. I also attached several resources to help you make the comparisons and an APA guide for writing your final report.

Let's take a closer look:

RESPONSE:

As mentioned in your assignment requirements, your World Religions Report should be 2000-2,500 words in length, formatted according to APA guidelines, and contain the following elements.

Have you given some thought about which religion you want to compare and which religion you want to visit and interview someone from the church. As examples, this response uses Judaism or Islam. However, I attached two charts comparing Islam, Judaism and Christianity; and the second one compares Roman Catholic and Protestant. You might decide to interview someone of the Jewish faith or Islam faith and then compare it to Christianity in general, or Roman Catholic or Protestant faiths. You will need to decide.

Let's look at each section to help get your started.

1. Introduction of the religion

For the section of your project, you will choose a religion that is not your own and introduce the religion in an introductory paragraph. Using Judaism as an example:

Judaism is an Abrahamic religion, which means faiths which recognize Abraham as a Patriarch. Other Abrahamic religions include Christianity and Islam Faith. Jews comprise about 0.2% of the human race, buy yet Jewish influence on the world has been vast -- far more than their numbers would indicate (Judaism: Beliefs, practices, Jewish-Christian relations, news).

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the Jewish religion through attending a Jewish place of worship and interviewing a person of the Jewish religion and then comparing the findings with another religion (you will need to choose one e.g., Islam, Christianity, Roman Catholic, Protestant)

2. Name, location review of the site

In this section, you will name and location of the church site e.g. Jewish synagogue site and the person that you did the interviewed. So you will need to visit a place of worship and interview a person of that faith.

You will describe the site, the building, the atmosphere, the people, etc. You will interview the person asking her or him the questions prepared. This is called a semi-structured interview. This will be written something to the effect...

I visited (name of synagogue) on (date) at (location). When I approached the synagogue I noticed (tell what you saw, like the size of the church, ...
