Descriptive statistics are ways of summarising numerical data to make them more easily interpretable. Descriptive statistics include the mean, standard deviation, variance, minimum, maximum, range, standard error of the mean, kurtosis and skewness of a set of scores.
The correlation between two variables is the degree of (usually) linear relationship between them. The concept of correlation was first introduced by Sir Francis Galton in 1877.
