I. Heart Disease
Heart disease (cardiopathy) is a broad term for several different diseases that affect the heart. Up to and including 2007 it was the leading cause of death in the United States taking the lives of one person every 34 seconds. The most common cause of heart disease is coronary artery disease which is a narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries which happens over a long period of time.
